We would like to thank our gold exhibitors for their support of the 2017 Lowcountry Mental Health Conference!

Palmetto Summerville Behavioral Health

Lowcountry Mental Health Conference Gold SponsorPalmetto Summerville Behavioral Health is a psychiatric residential Treatment Facility for youth ages 7-21 years of age. The program addresses the needs of the adolescents with general psychiatric disorders such as: Depression, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Autism, and Asperger’s. Trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy is provided by trained therapists. Individualized plans for each patient are created jointly by a psychiatrist, therapist, nurse, and program manager. Our therapists are on site 7 days per week to provide groups and therapeutic support.

They offer several programs/services to include the Pathways curriculum provided for sexually reactive residents, a 60-90 Day Crisis Stabilization Program, a Post Adoption Disruption Stabilization Service, Adoption Preservation Services, and an education program based on a “Montessori” school type model.

We believe a fundamental element of our success is that our staff are trained in Trauma Informed Care. We utilize this model because we believe that all children have experienced some type of trauma even if it is the trauma of being placed outside of their “home” in a residential setting. With this model, our goal is to lessen the chances of a child being re-victimized and understand that many of the children’s problem behaviors began as a result of them trying merely to cope.
