NAMI Charleston Area is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and treatment for people who suffer from brain disorders, as well as help for their families and friends through;

• Education- NAMI offers several free educational programs on a regular basis.
• Support- NAMI sponsors weekly and monthly support groups for all who are involved.
• Advocacy- NAMI donates to organizations which support our goals, and members monitor and lobby for state and federal legislation which positively affect mental health issues.

NAMI Charleston Area is a part of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state and in more than 1,100 local communities across the country.
